Oprah wears her natural hair on her September cover of her magazine. The natural hair community is fawning. I (as always) see it a bit differently. O is not slick. O could've done this 5 years ago and would've been just fine. She is doing this because WE the natural hair community are HUGE business. We (us regular mainly '80s babies with good ole YouTube and hair blogs) have shifted the atmosphere. We have expanded the beauty landscape. Ladies, give yourself a standing ovation.
Let this be lesson for other things. We don't need any one in entertainment to change our predicament. WE are the change. And ya'll can say what you want to say but if it wasn't for the natural hair 'police' rolling their eyes and sucking their teeth most of us wouldn't be natural in the first place. The natural hair community wouldn't be the FORCE it is today.
Better late (with questionable motives) than never.
