It's Saturday and I've seen two movies today with two meet-up groups. Are you on
www.meet-up.com? No its not a dating website. Thank me later.
I went to see Dark Knight Rises and it was okay. Batman comes out from hiding to save Gotham City from Bane, the movie's antagonist who wore a face mask throughout the whole movies. What's with so many movies featuring destruction to a major US city? Why is that theme so popular? Has it become a major cash cow? Has the American people adopted some new weird fetish? I don't know but that was a little too close to home to be funny or cool. What's with all the women being included in all the action stuff? When my city is on the brink, all that feminist shit goes out the window. I'm gonna be hot-tailing it out of there and let the boys kill each other just like the Good Lord intended. Anyway, Anne Hathaway was okay as Catwoman. Is it me or is she not pretty? She seems like such a plain Jane to me? Batman's Batmobiles were awesome. Bane and Batman's voice was weird with their paraphenelia, if you will, on yet no one seemed to think it weiI so wanted one. I'm not an action/superhero type movie person. It was a good movie just to pass the time.

I went to see Beasts of the Southern Wild in the evening and it was GREAT. I love indie movies and this one was about a community outside of New Orleans that was impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The community is very poor and refuses to take Government assistance. They virtually live on the water. The main characters are a 5-year-old girl named Hushpuppy and her dad Wink. The movie tells of their relationship as Wink teaches his daughter how to take care of herself until he dies. Issues like climate change, poverty, the resilience of children, parent-child relationships are all raised. PLEASE GO SE THIS MOVIE. It's a fictional movie but it runs like a documentary, that's how good the acting is. It seems as if you're eavesdropping on this little family and community. Actually, the 5-year-old may be up for an Academy Award. If she gets nominated she'll be the youngest in Academy award history. Take that history.
