There's much to be considered when dating interracially. However, I would venture to say that far too many Black women don't even consider men from Africa for whatever reason. I've dated 2 African men in my short life and here are the reasons that I think they should be considered in conjunction with their American cousins. These traits can be found in those Africans that haven't been too Americanized, ie most of his friends are foreigners. This was not intended to offend Black American men but my observations of the differences between foreign and native/diasporic Black men because 'dating-out' is not as easy as it sounds.
-Less baggage. Call it what you want but slavery did a number on Black Americans, male and female. Black Americans mindsets for the most part are abnormal to civilized norms. This is seen more in the men than in the women. Nonetheless, the women cater to these abnormal thinking patterns which affects the whole group.
-They know their role. Bringing something (finance and romance) to the table is not foreign to them.
-They have a strong work ethic. One gentleman said 'In my country all a man wants to do is work and provide for the family. You come to America and the next day, you have a job. Its great'.
-They have a commitment to education.
-They're more intune with their emotions.
-There's less of a risk of him being on the down-low.
-Though we're of the same race, we have different heritages which can be exciting when getting to know a person. Africans can trace their history by a 1000+ years but don't know who Harriet Tubman is. All this learning about cultures, histories, and language can be done without the havoc, stigma, stereotyping, children's identity issues that interracial marriage brings with it.
-They tend to be very resourceful. Any woman knows that keeping a house and a car can be expensive. Having a man who knows how to fix stuff can save a lot. Most Americans of every race tend to have the 'hire someone else' mentality.
-They don't have a color complex.
-They are less likely to make excuses because they know the opportunities abound in the US.
-If you both get tired of life in the US, you can relocate to his country of origin.
Yes, there's something to say about attraction. I do find American Black men to be more attractive. However, you may find African men easier to work with and understand. With the world as crazy as it is, who needs extra drama? Hey, the man is supposed to be the less attractive one in the relationship anyway. Some of them, you wouldn't know until they opened their mouths where they were from beause Black people do look alike.
