Thank God for Shutting The Door!

A year or so ago, I was looking for a promotion away from home. I just wanted out. I was up for a position in Japan and I so wanted to go. The job promised a house, per diem, compensation, and insurance. Basically, I would be paid abundantly just to breathe in my new position or so I thought. All of my personal expenses would be covered. But that door closed by way of never being called back after the interview. I recently ran across this article.

5 Things Nobody Tells You About Living In Japan over at Cracked.com.
 It cites:
5. Things are Low-Tech
4.The Houses have no heat
3. The hospitals close on weekends and evenings
2. You will always be an Outsider
1. The Country Isn't That Weird

Let's go through each thing and how it would be a problem for me:
5) Where would I be without my laptop, my GPS, sites like meetup.com, and yelp. These make moving to a new US city MUCH easier than it could be?
4) I HATE being cold.
3) I have a health issue that needs access to hospitals around the clock... just in case. #pray4me
2) That's NEVER good. Most likely, if I lived there I'd stay among American and UK expats, but still. Its great to be an American because we have so many races who have been through their share of hazing and are now in. New immigrants of each race can't understand how good they've got it. From what I here from expats, America is a welcoming place.
1) That's the one thing that's reassuring.

*Another thing I read on a message board is that its hard for non-Japanese women to date.

The Lord shut that door but opened another door in America's Gold Coast, good ole California.

Every now and then, God shows you what you missed. Many times in the Bible, God didn't punish the people. He just gave them what they wanted and that usually was enough to rock their world. Today, I am grateful that God didn't answer my prayer about moving to Japan...or any other place.

I live in effing California, buddy!

Just in case this post wasn't clear, here's a song that sums it up!
