This girl is 16 years old and has never had a perm. You can find her profile here. This is how most black women's hair would have been if they never had a perm. Look and envy. If you're like me you want to smack your Mama for being so dumb when she put that first perm in your hair which led to a 20+ year struggle to grow it back to this length. That's my issue. Most black women had hair this long or longer and even though they may have tossed the creamy crack years ago and now wear protective styles like wigs, weaves, or two strand twists their hair never rebounded to their earlier mid-back length hair. Why so? The bulk of Black women have struggled to get their hair out of the chin to shoulder length plateau/prison. Why so? A lot of hair care "experts" say that it is a myth that "Black hair don't grow" but I can definitely understand where that theory comes from. If the majority of Black women's hair is at or shorter than shoulder length after several years/decades, umm there's something in the damn water.
The struggles of being a black woman (eye roll).
