Why I'm Renewing My Commitment to Fitness

The main reason I am exercising everyday is because I do not want to age poorly. My last Pastor is knocking on 90 and still runs 5 miles a day and looks not a day over 65. My present church bubbles with many black people who look good for their age, even though they are out of shape. I think to myself, how much better would they look if they dropped some pounds. How much better would I look if I dropped some pounds?

I have been a size 10/12 since I was 12 (which is good I guess) but I want to lose more weight. I want to get out of the thick/chubby/plump range and into the petite (but not too skinny) range. I want to see what I look like at a size 8 and then decide whether or not to continue down to a size 6. Losing too much weight can be a blessing and a curse for a black girl. When a woman loses weight, she also looses some key assets (ahem) and I don't want to lose too much (blush, blush). When I am 40, I want to look 30. When I am 50, I want to look 35/40 and so on. One of the main reasons why men date younger women is because they look better (plain and simple). Therefore, beauty and youth are great assets in and of themselves for all women. I don't want to need all kind of stuff when I get old to get me around. I want to age gracefully, beautifully, just plain old well. Black women age the best, hands down. Dark-skinned black women trump them all. Since God has blessed me with dark and loveliness, I'll do my part in taking care of the temple.

Also, check this out: 20 is the new 30.
