Anyone who has been even slightly engaged in the black blogosphere knows that there is a Gender War going on. Black men and Black women are having a hard time wrapping their arms around each other and there is a lot of healing that needs to take place. One of the Principles of Change is Forgiveness. Both groups are not innocent for where we are today as a people. Therefore, to restore the love (or some of it), take the 5 Compliment Challenge.
Commit yourself to complimenting 5 Black people of the opposite sex everyday. The compliments cannot be generic. 'Black women are strong'. 'Black men are charismatic'. They must be specific to the person you are complimenting. 'That shirt looks great on you'. 'I'm encouraged when I see you involved in mentoring programs'. Specific. If you do not run across 5 people, do as many as you can.

This also can be done across color lines as Black and White people still have quite a bit of healing to do. This could also be fruitful for women to do amongst themselves. However, Black men and women must heal themselves and kind words can be a part of the prescription.
'Love is patient. Love is kind. It is does not brag. It is not arrogant'. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres'.
Love (as defined here) is the very thing that is lacking from the Black community. My friend started doing this and his attitude towards black women changed dramatically (and he's engaged). Expect that. Kindness is attractive and we as a nation have become very ugly. I'm expecting marriages to heal, friendships to be restored, partnerships to be forged, and just a general sense of peace in those who participate in this.
